How to Survive a Long Flight

Ok, you’re all excited about your next vacation, BUT before you reach your dream destination, you have to endure a pretty long flight! How are you supposed to sit on a plane for hours and hours? Sure, if you’re traveling in first class, you should be comfy, but that’s not realistic for most of us. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your next long flight.

Choose the Right Seat

This is probably the most important item on the list! When booking your flight, keep your comfort in mind! If you prefer a window seat over the aisle or middle, make sure your preference is available when you’re searching for flights. If possible, don’t choose basic economy flights as many airlines don’t allow you to choose your seat. Instead, the airline will select your seat prior to your departure. Always keep your comfort at the top of your mind! Put a few extra dollars to the side, so that you are able to choose the seat of your airplane dreams!

Entertainment

This is a big one! Not all planes are equipped with TV’s. So, stock up on things that will keep you entertained for your entire flight! I’m talking books, podcasts, movies, music playlists… download it all! I use Spotify to download music and podcasts. This way you are able to listen to your music without wifi. Head over to your Netflix App and download all of your favorite movies and shows! Before every flight, I download a few episodes of The Office for a few laughs during my flight. If you’re a reader, make sure you have a few books on your kindle or tablet.

Pack a Wireless Charger

This is do or die! Your tech devices will be your sole lifeline during your flight and you want to keep them powered on! Invest in a wireless charger to use during your flight, just in case your plane doesn’t have a USB or power outlet. Here’s a portable charger that I love. Thank me later!

Wear Comfy Clothes

This is a must! It can be very difficult to get comfortable on planes, so wear some comfortable clothes to help! I love a good airport outfit! Am I the only one who picks out their outfits for the plane? You definitely want to wear sweatpants, leggings, or yoga pants. It’s also important to dress in layers. Try a loose-fitting t-shirt paired with a jacket or sweatshirt. Temperatures on flights may be unpredictable, so dressing in layers can help you adapt to hot or freezing temperatures on the plane.

Bring Snacks + Water

Let’s be real, airplane food is average at best. And depending on what airline you’re flying, food and drinks may be limited. Don’t get caught on a 12-hour flight with ONE  tiny cup of water. Make sure you’re prepared! Pack a water bottle and snacks from home (or pick them up from the airport).  This way, you can stay full and hydrated during your flight. Nothing is worse than being uncomfortable, tired, and hungry during a long a** flight!

That’s it, guys! What are your tips for surviving long flights? Let’s add more to this list! Happy Travels!
